I picked up some new fish today and had so many questions an what not about them I somehow spaced out about asking about the plant I also got. I have done mild planted tanks in the past, but I really never knew what I was doing. I picked up a bunch of Anarchis today, and the stems are wraped in a piece of metal to hold them. In the past I have always just burried that under the substrate, but id like to know if Im correct in doing that. Or do I take the metal off and seperate all of the stems from each other?

Thanks! :]

It grows fast too! I bought about 6 stems a month ago and it has easily doubled. I could probably do a trimming and yield another 6 stems.

I have the stems separated but planted in the substrate and it does fine.

When I plant them they die and melt.. I can only keep them alive free floating but I dislike that look.

I decided to float some and plant some. Someone above mentioned flourish exel is not a good product, I havent read his link yet but I will. I used that product in the past and it really didnt do jack for me. Is there anything that is recommended?

Excel is solely a carbon source for plants and is a great product. However, it has the tendency to melt certain species (vals, crypts, anacharis) although I've never personally had the problem. Keep in mind that most low light plants such as anacharis are slow glowers as it is so unless you plan on upgrading the lights or adding Co2...don't expect much growth.
