So what is this guy?
Marloboro red? He is BRIGHT orange..

Was about the size of a quarter when I got him. now 2 1/2 inches. His colors are finally starting to really POP!!

he is solid orange, has some whitish spots, and a tiny bit of blue on his fins...

Hey Zig, looks like a marlboro, although different breeders come up with different names, but still a marlboro red. Fish and tank look really nice!

Suspected she was a red...
thanks for the confirmation. I wish the tank looked as good as the pictures make it seem... my plants are looking pretty ratty right now.

Thanks Debbi!

now.. This is a female i think, right?

now.. This is a female i think, right?

:huh: Only way I know a male from a female is when the male has the little extra streamer thingy at the tip of the dorsal fin, and that is only certain strains! Or if they put their tubes out.

Now your going to make me go look at all my females to see if indeed they are rounded!

Nice Marlboro!!!

I believe all our females are rounded , I have seen a few females at the fish room in Baltimore that had pointed fins. I asked hans he said it depends on the strain . My wife asked him how do you tell a male from a female and he replied " the females go right into the net and the males run away". You should have seen the look she gave him. My wife is Irish with a temper to match and I thought it was the start of round one . I would have put my money on my wife. LOL

I think in 2005 and 2006 there were a lot of fish that looked just like Zig's labeled as Marlboro Red. I bought one that looked just like Zig's, from Discus Madness, maybe a bit deeper orange. I remember Marie over on simply also had one and was always complaining about all the orange fish that were on the market, real reds were very few and far between. Zig's looks like the old Marlboro Red.....here's a picture of Marie's: http://forum.simplydiscus.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=17046&d=1156189213
and another one from a breeder on simply:

from early 2006.
