I have been looking into angels lately and have decided that I want to get a couple of marble ones. They had some very small angels at LFS but the colors were pretty muted. Does the color brighten with age? Do the colors change at all with growth? I guess what I am asking is, will they look the same as adults as they did as babies?

The patern of color won't change, but they could lighten or darken some depending on how stressed they are. There are some color paterns that might make you think of pale black marbles, so unless they are close to the color you want the black should be black and the silver... well I guess what I'm saying is unless they are stressed, and you would be able to tell if they are by watching them for a bit, what you see is what you get.

From what I know the colors CAN change a bit. It depends on water quality and what the fish is fed and the age of the fish.
Young Angel fish tend to have a blood red marking at the base of their head that goes away with age (you may or maynot be able to see this marking depending on which color the Angels is)
Now will the Angel turn completely different colors or become MUCH more brilliant, most likely no. But if they are well taken care of (good food and water conditions)their colors will be much brighter.
I'm no expert, but I hope this helps. If anyone with more knowlege can add or correct me please do!!

Thanks alot for the replies...now I know not to buy them unless they are the color I want. I will be going to the auction next month here in Peoria that Nursie told me about....hopefully I will find some good specimins there.
