My female just beat up her mate pretty badly- missing scales and torn up fins

:jaw:
The attack only last about 2-4 mins. before we moved him to another tank. They just spawned 3 days ago (we remove the eggs since she eats them every time). Is this normal? Will we be able to re-introduce him to her tank? They have bred successfully about 6 times now I would like to keep having her spawn.

I think a plastic separator would work in the tank. Maybe until things calm down

pretty common for a new pair.(to eat the eggs)

removing the male is wise...I'm guess you know this from watching them spawn??
it is possible you have 2 females, if you have never witnessed a hatch.

Definitely a breeding pair- sold the first batch over a month ago (had 45 survive out of about 100 eggs from the first spawning- they ate some of the subsequent spawns, 1 batch just died, and I have 2 batches going right now, some free swimming, others waiting to hatch). Oh yeah this female has bit me while removing eggs. Not ever afraid of a net at that point.

weird that the male hasn't contributed but not uncommon with domestics.
