Angelfish and Diamond tetras?

I have a single half-grown angel, and I want tankmates from South America that number 1, he won't eat, and number 2, won't eat him.

I was considering Diamond Tetras, Black Phantom Tetras, and possibly Columbian Red and Blue Tetras. I have space for a school of 6 to 8. I'm very partial to the Diamond Tetras, but want to see if anyone else has kept them together before with sucess.

I remember seeing that as a viable community in one of the magazines that I have lying around at home...Diamonds/Monks are often recommended as tankmates for even nastier cichlids than Angels...
