Ok here's the thing. I originally purchased a pair of angels that seemed to have paired off. One of them didn't make it and the one that survived was alone for about six months until i added a second angel. The two go all around together and the original angel lays eggs once or twice a month. Do angels usually stick with one another, or is this behavior strickly for those angels that have paired off? I guess my real question is whether or not it is possible for an angel to find a second mate afte one that has died.

To the best of my knowledge, angels do not mate for life. If you're wondering why the second angel doesn't fertilize the eggs, there are a number of possibilities. From what I've read (sadly, I have no experience) angels are known to pair off in same sex pairs at times. It's also possible that the male is just not in the mood (forgot to shave his legs, has a headache, who knows).

well, i've had the new angel for about a week, so he/she hasn't had the chance to show any sign of mating. He/she is, however, cleaning one of the leaves with the old angel that lays the eggs.

that sounds like normal mateing pair beahvior to me... but the last time i typed in angel fish help, it was the stupidest answer that ever has been written... i think that the new one is a male b/c its cleaning a spot and they may eventually make a successful fry... i hope thats the case anyway!

I believe it to be the case as well. And it looks like its breeding tube is pointed which means a male for sure..........Haha. The one is laying eggs right now!

This is just going in the wrong direction. Of course i have know idea if it's of maturity or not.....
