HI guys, One of my angelfish appears to be developing a swim bladder infection, it has swelling near it's bottom. This fish is at least 4 years old, I have had 3 other angel fish die from this over the years. First it becomes swollen at the bottom then within a couple of days they are floating on their side and cannot swim. I really like this one and id like to save it. I have tried antibiotics in the past with no success. If this was your fish what would you do? thanks.

Well, the swim bladder is not located near the bottom. It's located more in the center of the body mass, just above the intestine, and below the spine. So, it sounds more like a type of intestinal infection. Intestinal swelling can often interfere with the swim bladder. In such a case, antibiotics in the water won't do much good. Medicated food during the first signs of this disease may be a better solution.
