I have 2 angelfish that i have had since the end of aug. they were from the same tank at the store i had them in a 10 gallon then when moved them to a 5 gallon for a week or so cause the 10 gallon tank had problems then one fish was picking on the other so i moved them into there own 5 gallon (thats all i had at the time) and kept them separted til the one that was picked on healed and ended up putting them back in the 10 gallon tank and then the one that got picked on was doing the picking and i then put 2 pictus catfish in with them along with 2 algae eaters( which i am waiting to get rid of dont need them) then the picking finally stoped and i got a bigger tank 20 gallon
my husband is wanting to know if he could add 1 more angelfish its smaller then the ones we have now and if not since the angelfish are now getting along is there any other fish we could put in there
and also how can you tell males and females apart
i can send pics of the angelfish if need be thanks

most 29's are taller and 6" less in length..than a 30..I would suggest a 29 for angels as they need the height. you will need at least that for your angels or you will stunt their growth.

I would say the 20g is minimum for a pair (1male 1female). If you must then add 4-5 tetras, but then you would have to get rid of the pictus. Realize that you would really be pushing the limits of the tank and that MINIMUM 50% weekly water changes should be maintained. If this is done I don't believe you would stunt them, but they would certainly appreciate a bigger tank down the line. For 3 angels look to get a 30g or larger.

i had 3 very large angels in a tank...one got really picked on alot then got lip fibrosis....blaah it was a bit crowded....btw it was a 29gallon tank....right now i got 2angels and a severum....i wouldnt want much more

Get a 55 gal, drop the pictus, and you will be able to have several more fish. When they pair off you will then know the sex of your angels.
