I have an angelfish in a 30g planted tank. He was supposed to go into the 72g planted community tank, but after a couple of weeks in there is was obvious he didn't like the current or the tankmates (all others were afraid of him and left him alone, but Sanchez is also a big chicken and hid a lot). So he has his own 30g now. I would like some interesting bottom dwellers in there. I was thinking a few peacock gudgeon would look great. I've never kept them before. Another possibility is to move my two bolivian rams in with him and get something else in the 72.

Does anyone have experience with the gudgeons and angelfish? Would 4 be OK?

Not sure...my peacocks were pretty shy...At the end my lone male fell in love with a widowed female Apistogramma cacatuoides...it was so cute...he kept following her around and showing off.

Don't know about the peacocks, your alternate idea should work out though, I have a lone angel with a lone ram in a 29g.
