angels and plants

What other fish are in the tank? Is that big light-colored cichlid still in there?

Angels do "go over" leaves looking for small critters, but I have never seen them eat leaves away. And one feeding a day should be OK, though more, smaller feedings would be better.

I would bet one of the other fish is chomping down on those plants.

Yes the gold severum is still there. He/she is approx. 4.5" and still growing.
Awesome fish!

I just got a bunch of angels at an auction, which are now in qt, but they have been eating plants too. I have a couple bunches of floating stem plants that they have been eating leaves off of since I put them in the tank. Since they just got into the tank, I've been feeding them sparingly since they were so stressed.

angel will eat algae..

mine eat the algae wafers I feed the bn's..they take them from the bn's. they also pick on zuccinni and love peas.

nice veils btw.

young angels should be fed 3-4 small meals per day for optimum growth. try it and watch how fast they grow.

I have been feeding my baby angels 3-4 times per day since they were freeswimmers.

they are 75% the size of the parents now.

my wild peruvians have been fed 4 small leals per day three of them are nearly the size of my domestics..the 4th seems to be a runt..it had a rough time with weird erptions on the body..but now has made it thru that period ansd is growing fine now.

so the angels may be tearing up the leaves on plants in an atttempt to get algae. they will voratciously pick at leaves when they are spawning too.

I find that crypts, anubias and swords seem to be able to withstand this picking pretty well. anubias is a tough plant.

thanks for the info. star_rider.
This is my first attempt at angels and can't believe I haven't had them before.
They go really well in my tank since it is a cube tank (custom)
I also updated the lighting. I hope everything goes well.
Here are some more pics if anyone is interested....
