Angels Post Spawn

A friend of mine had a pair of young angels spawned the first time and 2-3 days later all the eggs were eaten.
We don't know who ate the eggs, the tank has a pleco and several rams 55GL tank.
The pair didn't eat for 3 days after and kind of lost interest in moving around the tank and just stayed in the corner of the tank around cover.
The male died first and then the female.
The rest of the fish had no problems and the specs are fine.

I gave my friend a 4 new angels and they are doing fine in the same tank.

What do you think?

not sure but I would suspect there was another problem in the tank.
not common for angels to spawn then die.
