Angels

Go fish yourself.
I've been seeing a lot of posts on Angels lately. I think many of them are quite beautiful and I wanted to know where I can find out more info on keeping them (because I'm ignoramus!).

I currently have a 12g with 3 platies & a snail and I'm looking to add something else to it. Are there any types of angels that would be a good match for my setup or is it incompatible?

Nope. They can reach 6" long and can be double that in height.

I concur with the pps. Why don't you get a german, gold, or bolivian ram instead? They are also quite beautiful cichlids and are much smaller. Just make sure that there are plenty of hiding places for him, other then that your 12g should be suitable. :)

Excellent. See? I'm glad I have you guys to answer all my questions! It saves me a lot of research time! Thanks!

Maybe I'll look into some of those cichlids you mentioned, but don't they need different water standards than platies?

I was also considering just putting a couple of little cories in there and be done with it, but there are so many more stunning creatures out there.

Any suggestions?

I wouldn't put a ram in anything less then a 20g unless it was just a juvie.

as long as your tank parameters are stable, most fish can adapt to aynthing.

i keep amazonian fish in a pH of 8.0 and they are fine with it. acclimation is the key

any type of angel needs at least 30 gallons, scalare, altum, or leopodi.

I have a beautiful angel in my new 26g bow. It has a height of 21in. and you really need the height for these fish. The can get fairly long from top to bottom- on avg. about 6". You'll need at least 25-30g in capacity with height in mind, which is why taller tanks are preferable to long tanks for angels (say a 29 vs. a 30 long).
