Annoying error message...

When I click on random links or bookmarks I get this message:

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item."

But then I click "ok" and it brings me to where I wanted to go...any idea why?

It's just annoying.

Btw, running Vista with all the latest updates for Windows and IE. Set up as admin so should be no issues with permission...

What kind of random links? links on the internet? bookmarks for internet pages? or shortcuts on your local computer??

Links from like a google search, stuff like that. Also it sometimes happens with bookmarks I have in my favorites.

I would disable all add-on's in IE first..they can cause some pretty erratic errors in IE8...

If that makes no difference, my next step would be too disable tabbed browsing..

i know my IT department refuses to start using IE8 because it simply stinks. maybe roll back your browser to IE7?

delete your cache
delete your cookies
delete your temp files
(you can use the program 'CCleaner' to do that real easily for you)
