Another CL incorrect and too much I offered $1 a gallon

You don't see 400 gallon tank adds even though according to the dimensions the tank is actually 300 gallons. I recommended a component brake-up and sale on Ebay and offered the standard $1 a gallon or $300 for the tank only for local pickup. Ill be surprised if he accepts my offer, but you never know.

His price is crazy, as is yours for a tank only...with some of the other stuff he says is in the package, depending on age/quality, it's worth more than 300 but no where near the 3500...the larger the tank, I would go closer to 1.50/gal for a tank only...especially at the abnormal length of 10 feet.

I agree. $1.00 a gallon is OK for smaller tanks.. maybe under 100G but for big tanks that cost WAY MORE proportionately due to the higher costs of materials needed for BIG tanks would warrant a lot more than a $1.00 a gallon.

Of course, it depends on the age and condition as well.

For example, a new 100G on GlassCages.com sells for $323 but a 300G sells for over a thousand... which I guess is close to the 3X $323 for the 100G so maybe even 100G tanks should be included in the not for a dollar price.

I know I wouldn't sell my BIG tank for a dollar a gallon unless there was something wrong with it that could be fixed. It's not like filters or other stuff that wears down and is more likely to malfunction. A tank will last a LONG time with no maintenance/repair other than cleaning. Now, if it has lots of scratches and needs to be re-siliconed, that certainly changes things.

It almost makes buying the 1/2" glass and building your own tank worth it if like you say it 300 and above. As long as the glass is no higher then 24" + or - 2" you can use 1/2" glass up to 500 gallons. In a package deal you could probubly order all 3 long (sides & bottom) and 3 short (ends & brace) 1/2" panels for about $400 for the ultimate 500G tank 120L X 40W X 25H. I would build it on the stand and never move it unless cut apart.

Anyway will see what he has to say, after all Im only asking for the bare bones tank.

Mr. Travis needs to learn aquarium equiptment is like a new car once your drive it home you have already lost value and his up to 6 yr old equiptment really has lost value, so I would suggest ' he do the math' and get in the real world of what its worth. I hope he takes your offer Gunner sounds like a nice tank and are you planning on moving and doing all this by yourself like you did the other tank? U DA MAN !

If he did actually accept my offer which I doubt I would ask him for help to load it in my truck and if it came with a stand it would have to sit in the garage until I got rid of my 60 tank and did some rearranging. Its hard to believe that someone who has been in the saltwater hobby for 6 years would suddenly give it all up, I hope its not a sign of the times and Im not buying stuff just to give it away myself if things get worse. Why I have had thoughts that at least one of my large tanks should be Tilapia lol. I hear they are very easy to raise.

On Friday I found out I may be cut to 20 hours a week or maybe even (yikes!) lose my job... I still went out and bought a 125 gallon tank and FX5 today. I've decided the best thing I can do currently is just ride out the storm - although I have a feeling my boat may be filling with water any second.

Tilapia= quite tasty indeed! I wonder how a large oscar fried in a beer batter would be.......LOL
