Another Frozen Blood Worm thread

Sorry I have been reading these could bring disease into your tank I feed Hikari brand frozen.
I was under the impression it was only the dry ones you got in a regular fish food type bottle that gave disease is that false?
Is there something safer to feed in the frozen food section.. what about daphnea? (sp) what is that do the fish like it equally?
Sorry for the stupid question but i'm already dealing with internal parasites as my fish I bought had them when I bought him I just didnt' know what it was to be honest I didnt' even realise that was where the poop came out of as he's a dwarf gourami and I thought it was just old thin clear skin.. durrrr yes I know he's not a snake now, so he's being treated.

Frozen food should be O.K. The biggest issues are with live food such as feeders and such. Maybe he was sick when you got him which is not uncommon.

i think that blood worms are pretty much safe, but i mean anything can happen, but i think it is more of a problem with like feeder fish and such

I agree and I just read on my frozen blood worm package that they are guaranteed to be safe to feed any fish. I also think that it is usually the live foods that come with some potential problems. I would think that in order to get enough blood worms to fill millions of packages, the company would raise their own stock and have control over their health somewhat. Otherwise, the 'flash freezing' methods they use probrably takes care of alot of most problems.

Thankyou for the replies, and that makes a lot of sense about them having their "own" supply rather than getting them at a contaminated source.
Phew.... Ok it seems I always need something to be worrying about with my fish I will try and move past this... lol

I feed my fish flakes in the morning and frozen food in the evening. I rotate between Brine Shrimp, Bloodworms, & Plankton. They have been on this diet for several years. I have never had any sick fish, ever.

just an FYI, blood worms are highin protein..make sure the fish you are feeding can consume these..some fish do not need this kind of protein in large doses and can actually have digestive problems with bloodworms and other high protein foods.

check the species and their dietary needs.

only live bloodworms have a risk of spreading disease, not frozen or pelleted
