Hi Everyone my name is Beckee and I am 25, English although I have been living in Southern Spain for the last couple of years. I am currently owned by a dog, 2 cats, cockatiels, mice and since Xmas a lovely 15g (according to my calculations?) tropical aquarium! Years ago I had a smaller tank with just a couple of mollies and in this one I now have
1 dalmation molly
1 pair platys
12 neons
2 penguin tetras (translating Spanish name, not sure if this is correct?)
1 male guppy
2 'kissing fish' suspect gouramis from what I have read although the pictures all show much larger, different shaped fish to mine? Mine are shorter than the platys and round from side view. They have also shown no signs of aggression to the other fish?
I have recently got into forums and groups on the internet and have found them to be a great help with various projects! This one looks especially grand and I have got square eyes from reading all the past posts! lol
Couple of questions...I have had various comments on whether my tank is overstocked or not? What do people think? I have got a longish term plan (well over summer) to set up another tank as my boyfriend who once asked Why would you want fish?? Is now hooked! I have already had a couple of babies from the platy although they didn't survive but she is sure to have more and I'm pretty sure the molly also has buns in her oven!
I know these livebearers could soon take over so i would like to have a bigger tank just for them and have my tetras, kissers and whatever in this tank. Will my set up be ok as it is for a coulple of months or should I get a move on. My LFS will take back any if necessary but I am attatched already!!
We had originally wanted to add some sort of bottom feeder but I am heading towards the shrimp idea now. My boyfriend is also keen to add frogs, crabs, the odd lobster... lol...(running before walking springs to mind!) although the teeny snails that hitched a ride with the plants are giving me enough trouble!!
Anyway, lok out for my zillion questions which will be coming thick and fast!
