Just wondering if I did the right thing. I have 12 platys and 1 chinese algae eater. I had 2, but one died today. It had a fungus(?) on its nose that looked like mold or a piece of cotton stuck to its nose. I originally thought it was a piece of old food stuck to its nose. But anyway I got Jungle - Fungus Eliminator and Aquarium Pharmaceuticals - MelaFix. Put both in the water and went by the instructions for treatment. Was this a good idea? Will it work? All my platy frys are all hanging around at the top of the tank now -- they aren't acting strange or anything just staying at the top. Is that unusual? Also, by the way, I have a 10 gal tank. I would appreciate any advice on this.

Thanks

:)

I have never tried this chem and have never had to use med. chems. So I really couldn't help in that way but I use reg non-iodized table salt in my fresh water tanks with Stress coat. Higher temps and salt help kill most deseases. Knock on wood.....in 6 yrs I have never had any fish have any known deseases. Good luck and hope you get your response soon to your question.

You may want to do a 50% water change....same temp as tank's.

Thanks. I did do a 25% water change before I put the treatment in there. I just hope I did the right thing and dont kill my fish.

Thanks

Well, as I said the algae eater with the funky stuff on its nose died. :( But the other seems to be fine along with the rest of them. They are eating fine and I saw the algae eater eat some yesterday. Which I hadn't seen it eat anything before. I haven't put anymore med. in there and have changed, oh I'd say, 10% of the water. But, they all seem to be doing fine.

Thanks!!
