another strange animal....

Dwayne, if that's the animal that animal control picked up somewhere and is trying to find the owner for, I believe it is friendly! I saw it on the news, and someone reached in and was petting that adorable nose! I'd take it in a heartbeat too. :D He does look like an overgrown guinea pig crossed with a deer, doesn't he? Hehe!

no a patagonian cavy is something different from a guinea pig I think- they look like maras. Actually, they might be the same thing. Evidently they were unfortunate enough to make it to the exotic pet trade-
edit- yup- same thing :D

Well these animals are too cute for words!!!!
So it was SO BIZARRE. Most nites while I make dinner my son watches Zoboomafo, which I tivo every day for him while we're not home. Anyway, last nite I went into my bedroom to tell him it was time to eat and what is on the screen???? A Capybara (or mara?)!!! I didn't catch what the guys were saying about it, because it was the end of the segment, but what are the odds that we're trying to identify an animal that they were talking about? I forgot about it after dinner, but when I get in tonite I'm going to rewind and see what it was...

I think it's a sign that I should adopt him! :D

I'd love to get him DD, but considering the landlord won't let us have a dog, I highly doubt he'd allow a capybara or other wild animal :D

Where does one procure such a pet?

Basically, capabaras are just giant rats. They are in the same family. If you want something smaller, why don't you just go with a good ole Louisiana Nutria, with their large orange teeth that don't stop growing :)
