Any experience with Giant Raphael catfish?

All I know is that they "buzz" you when they're upset(like when you're netting them and moving them to another tank). They actually make an audible noise!

raphael

mine hides, a lot. he is not giant he is 5 inches now and i think will get 6 to 8 maybe- i dont know because i have found too much conflicting information on the size they get. anyway they are not a social fish and they stay very well hidden from my experience and also a freind of mine had one that did the same. they are pretty, and i have heard that if you are very patient and have a night light to see by that you can see them at night- kind of a dark shadow that looks for food on the floor of the aquarium. i have had mine for at least a year, and i have maybe seen him out on his own twice, just for reference. good luck. oh they eating sinking wafers, and do well in soft or hard water- i have had mine in both.

i hope we are talking about two different fish. my tank isnt big enough. mine is called a striped raphael or bumblebee raphael. i found information on him through www.planetcatfish.com, mostly. i also have lots of books, anyway good luck finding information, i think and hope we are talking about different types of fish. here is the link for the fish i was talking about, just so you know sorry about the missinformation http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/doradida/platydor/166_f.php . maybe they will have something in there cat-elog about your fish though.
