I have four Eastern red spotted newts. They're almost like fish. I have to do weekly water changes, maintain aquatic plants for them to shelter in, etc. The good thing about them is they are active during the day and completely unafraid of being observed. I guess since they are toxic they are confident they won't be eaten.
