Just got a new 29 gallon - its going through a fishless cycle right now. Does anyone have any suggestions for some fun and colorful fish for this tank?? I know I have plenty of time to decide and I've been looking all over the internet and looking at tank size requirements and compatibility and such but I thought I'd get some suggestions from you guys too!!

That is a pretty broad request! Are there any certain fish you are thinking of... cichlids, schooling community tank, a center ornamental fish, etc.

I have a generic community 29 gallon that I love to watch... a school of rasbora espei, 1 male betta, 6 kuhli loaches, shrimp and snails. Active on all levels and everyone gets along well.

Have fun with your new tank :)

I am interested in a community tank - pretty much how "thesydmonster"'s tank is set up. I definately want a colorful tank that would be active on all levels. I have been looking all all different fish and haven't quite decided. I like many of the Cichlids but really don't want to be limited to a species tank. Even though there are so many to choose from. Many of them need much more space than a 29 gallon can offer. I definately don't want to get fish that won't have enough room and wouldn't be happy in their new home!

Look at liveaqauria.com, pick a fish, 1 fish, any fish. Once there is a starting point, we can give you compatible tank mates.

I will go check that out...Thank you!! :)

Okay...I really like the Angelfish and I also like the Kissing Gourami...hope this is a good starting off point :)

Both angels and gouramis get large, 6-8+ inches. You could get 1, and only 1, as a centerpiece fish. You a few dither fish.
