Ok..I will grant you that those are much more attractive than the big, brown, bird-like palmetto bug roaches that haunt my nightmares and live here in the south, but I will still let YOU be the one to keep them. :D

WOW those are some neat roaches. I want some lol.

Oh the Tarantula would be for my sis who just turned 30 also she has loved Tarantula's ever since her teacher from 5th grade let her hold his. She was like the only girl who wanted to hold it and not many of the guys wanted to hold it. Don't remember what kind it was he had though. I'm thinking a CRT would be best for her and a spiderling would be cool just so she could watch it grow.

Me and my sis had the same teacher just I had him 3yrs after she did so we were both shown how to properly hold a tarantula and how to be extremely gentle with it. As for me Im not to much into tarantula's but widows do interest me they look so cool but wouldnt want males making there way into my room trying to mate with a captive female.

Hmmm thanks guys/gals I didnt feel like joining another forum since im a member to ummm 7 different forums as it is. But guess an 8th wont hurt.

Ok so you feed em once a week but how much? Also I read an article where its best to keep them with the room temp since it helps them adjust and figure out the different seasons there in which will help keep them healthy and help them know when its time to mult. Also females were said to be able to live 15-20yrs maybe more where as males live a way shorter life since they pass away after mating.

I was always intrigued by tarantula's and would love to see the progress if you get her a juvie...

the roaches on the other hand, give me the heebie jeebies too... I will so pass, regardless of how pretty they might seem to be.

I don't have a tarantula but I do have a pretty big wolf spider (3.5" leg span). I would love a tarantula but my parents would kill me.

Ill say this much Ive never been into them but ever since Ive been doing research on them I have become more and more intrigued with them. If I get her one I may as well get myself one as well. My room would be perfect for one. With all the tanks I have in my room the humidity level stays a bit high.

How is it they let you own a Wolf Spider but not a Tarantula? I would think the Wolf Spider has a better chance of escaping or biting then a tarantula.

Ok... ya'all are crazy. Anything with more than 4 legs needs to be squished ASAP! YEUCH!!!

*runs for the hills*

What was that rainbowcharmer??? You want me to send you some to those hills your running to??? Its ok ill send some tarantula's to those hills and some centipede's to your house =-) LOL

Hey GEV, you feed them once a week, and at first it is trial and error, you are going to want a cricket keeper, just in case. Some, like my rose, will eat 6 crickets at a time, some only 2, it just depends. Put a few in, if they eat them all, add another 2, if they eat that, add another and you can guess where thats going! Count the crickets, and you have your answer for how many. Also, you may want to take the legs off the crickets because tarantulas can't jump, and the bigger crickets will elude them. That's what I do at least. Ummm, they will eat a lot just before a molt, then they will eat nothing until they are done molting. After their molt, they are testy and very hungry, so feed before you handle after they molt. It is best to keep them at room temp *unless they are molting!* they need the moisture/humidity to molt!! If she molts, and there are pieces stuck that the spider can't get off, you have to help, but you want to use TONGS to do this, otherwise you will get bitten. I have been bitten twice. Not fun.

Handleable is a relative term. If it is a good day for the spider, meaning they are not hungry, or close to a molt, they should be docile, but if you disturb them while starting to molt or when they are hungry or making their web, it's not so good lol.

Also, you will def want a female, and do not disturb her web. If you do she will be very upset. Use tongs to take out the dead cricket carcasses, and only try to handle if she is out and about, do not disturb her web, or her when she is in her web. Ummm, anything else you want to know? Just ask!
