I'm thinking of tossing my HBH Crab and Lobster Bites (that's their staple diet, but they also get flakes, shrimp pellets, veggies, etc.) and trying the Hikari Shrimp Cuisine out. Is anyone else using Shrimp Cuisine yet? Do you and your shrimp like it? Do you recommend it?

I keep hearing the HBH is trash and some of their stuff was even recalled. But it makes my shrimp really red. Why?

I'm trying to change my fish and aquatic pet's diets to better things. My hermit crabs get top of the line, so do my parrots (my dog gets allergy food so she doesn't count) so I feel I owe it to my fish and shrimp too.

I read that crabs shouldn't get copper but shrimp should. Have you tried their Crab Cuisine? It doesn't contain copper (I'm pretty sure).

Which one would you get? I don't get the differences between their foods.

The Hikairi does have copper in both foods. Hikari says that some copper is needed by inverts but there is not enough to harm shrimp. It is beneficial in the moulting process. I feed the Hikairi to my crays as well with no problems. I sent away to Hikari for a free sample of the shrimp food. That was like decades ago...........haven't gotten it yet (actually was in early Feb 09).

None of the stores around here carry it :( Neither does my fav online store sooo I have not tried it. I'd be interested in a sample Bubbles did you call or write send an email to them?
I know it contains copper though, is this really good for shrimp and inverts?

Supposedly the amount of copper in the food is not harmful and Hikari states it is beneficial. But it is always good give a variety of food.

I myself been feeding Shirakura from Japan and all my shrimp/snails love it. I got mine from a seller in Japan who ships to America. About $15 for a 90 gram bag, and he also has Buy Now auctions on aquabid.com , search for shirakura.

I got a couple packs and all I have to say is DANG they're expensive for such a little pack. $8 for a 10g pack. And yes it contains copper sulfate

the crab cuisine contains no copper

Yeah... Me too. It sucks because they're so expensive. It would have been nice to be able to try it first.

My LFS has it but he didn't seem too thrilled with it, he told me that he doesn't use it w/ his shrimp.

Isn't copper sulfate the cheapest form of copper? Aren't copper proteinate and other forms supposed to be better?

It's kind of funny that these foods designed for shrimp are expensive because shrimp is found in a lot of fish foods.

What are the ingredients and analysis for the Shirakura? I can't find that info anywhere.
