I'm looking into these two breeds, I just love em. I was wondering if anyone here has one? From what I have read it seems the ocicat would be a better choice if you have other animals/children. So if anyone can give me any person experience and advice on either of these breeds it would be wonderful.

Thanks in advance!!!

I have 2 Bengal mixes.

Piper is mixed with Maine Coon. We got her as a kitten (12 weeks old) and she is now 10 months. Weighs about 12 lbs.

Pongo is a 3yr old we rescued in July. He looks more Bengal. Not sure what he is mixed with but he weighs about 12 lbs too. He is smaller then Piper but much stockier.

Best forum for info http://www.bengalcatforums.com/forums/index.php

its UK based but they know their stuff.

Every Bengal is different and depends on how far removed they are from the wild. Unless breeding I think an F3 would be the earliest you could get. Most peoples Bengals get along great with other animals as long as you introduce them slowly. My cats love my kids though Piper can get a little rough sometimes.

Awwww, Ice I LOVE EM!!!! I am reading more about the bengal and finding more articles that they do indeed get along well with other animals. Right now I was reading this one about introducing them to a new home.

This one has in it that you may want to give them raw beef sometimes...do you??

Thanks for the link, I am going to check it out now.

I wont be ready to get one for about another month or so, so I have time to try and figure things out...but OMG, I found a link to some rescue cats and there is one that is only 2 hours away from my house she is BEAUTIFUL!! SOOOOOOOOO tempting to just go get her. Although, I'm thinking starting with a kitten would be best.

A lot of the people on the forum feed nothing but raw. I don't go that route. I feed them this dry food because the 1st ingredient is meat and next 2 are meat meal no grains or by products. Almost as good as raw. I would like to get them some chicken legs to chew on though. The bone is good for them as long as it isn't cooked.
If you do go raw you need to add taurine(?) to the food.

They didn't like the wet food though so I finally downgraded to Friskies and they like that. I split a can between then 2xs a day and leave a bowl of the dry out for them to snack on during the day and night.

Oh, I don't think I'll go the "raw" route maybe once in a while for a treat or something. Just seems much easier to stick with the dry food.

Wow, I was looking at some of the breeders there and they have some gorgeous cats!!!!

OMG....I SO WISH I COULD GET THEM NOW!!!!
I was just browsing through a list of rescues, and I'm dying...I wanna go get them!!!! I just can't right now, where I'm at is small and no pets but I'll be moving hopefully next month if everything goes through but just look how cute and I can get them BOTH!!! It is so tempting to just go get em anyway, I mean it is only a month and they are kittens now I wouldn't think they would need toooo much space :evil_lol:

Hmmm, it would take me a little over 6 hours to get there, I have a friend I haven't seen in like 8 yrs that lives in Ft Wayne....WOW, this is just so tempting...they wont be ready for their "forever" home for a little over a week, I wont be working that week....O..M...G!!!

What beautiful kitties, Ice. Especially Pongo -- he looks very cat-business-like!!
