I saw these at the LFS today and I'd like to get a group for a 10 or 20g planted tank. Anyone have experience with these fish?

Mostly a bump--I know somebody here has them, but can't think of who...tricksterpup, maybe?

I've seen them more frequently lately. They are attractive, and stay smaller than many gouramies. Think they are less aggressive than many...But I could be wrong there. ;)

I have a couple that just bred.
They are my favorite fish. Small with the anabantoide personality.
I first had them in my community tank. They got along OK but they are shy and generally afraid of other fish.
They are much better in their own 20L aquarium now. The aquarium has lots of plants, hiding places and a low water current. They are still shy and sometimes afraid of me but venture more now.
I only have two (had three but the third one died shortly after I purchase it) but read that you can keep several together. WHen I had one male and two females they got along OK. They are not as agressive to each other as others of the same family. Only after breeding there was some real aggressiveness between them. The male took care of the eggs and fry in the beggining. Now (8 days later) both parents are taking care of the fry. They collect them in their mouth throughout the aquarium and deposit them in a specific corner (and the fry just start to swim away again...).
The nicest thing about the fish is that the male makes the characteristic croaking noise, particulary after lights are out.

HAve fun with them
