I just recently bought 2 large Golden Mystery Snails for my 75 gallon tank. They seem to be eating some of my plants. I haven't determined how much damage they are really doing to my plants, but I was wondering what your experiences have been with Apple Snails and your live plants. Should I get rid of these things or what?

Yeah...my experience with these guys is that they devour plants pretty quickly. Either get rid of them or place in weighted down soft veggies like lettuce and cucumber so that eat that instead....but that seems like a pain to me

If they really are mystery snails they won't eat your plants, however these snails seem to be more often than not mis-identified. Apple snail types other than mystery snails will eat your plants. So most likely you have some other type of apple snail, and unless you like the snails better than your plants I would definately find a home for them elsewhere. I recently went through the same scenario, I bought 3 Gold and 3 black mysteries, and the golds ate my plants while the black mysteries didn't. I'm still trying to find a reliable source for Gold mystery snails.
