How long should be waited after dechlorinating water with Amquel Plus should be waited before adding the water to the tank. I know Prime is recommended but I want to use this bottle first. I'm supposing the recommended time is more than I spent, because I appear to have experienced a die back in the bacteria that are converting fish food into amonia, because they've gone from producing nearly 0.8 ppm in 24 hours to little if any. My tank also appears to have regained the bacterial bloom that had disappeared just before the water change. :eek3:

I threw some more fish food and within 20 minutes the water was visibly cloudier. :O
I'm hoping this at least means they'll be quick on the come back.

As far as I know you can put it in almost instantly (30 secs) after putting the water conditioner in.

Hmm, I waited over a minute, so something weird is going on with my tank... which is clouding up rather quickly. I probably removed a lot of them when I accidentally siphoned out some old food that the majority were probably living on as it had been in there the longest.

Temeraire, how long have you been cycling it? I'm doing the pure ammonia fishless cycle so it's interesting to see which cycle is the quickest.

It might be your filter, give it some time to cycle all the new water through.
The same would happen to mine, it would get all cloudy with the new water, but within a couple of hours it would be fine again
:)
