Hello,
I was wondering if anyone uses the surface prefilter box on an AquaC Remora?
I have a question on how it works.....does it have baffles inside that split into two chambers? If not I do not see how it would not just recirculate the contents of the box over and over again.
Thanks!
Al

I've got an unused one sitting in a box (it wasn't big enough for the powerhead I have on my AquaC), but I just took a look at it. It is split into two chambers on the inside.

Here's a couple pictures of the thing if it helps you out :)

I use the prefilter box and think it makes a big difference. Completely eliminates the dust that can sometimes accumulate on the surface of the water. The box is split into two chambers and they come in two sizes depending if you are using the Rio or Maxi Jet.

The other thing is does well is hide the power head and the box itself being black is almost invisible in my tank. Well not invisible, but looks a #$%% of a lot better than a big power head hanging their IMO. I would definitely use the prefilter box.

just a fyi to anyone that uses this skimmer..make sure your powerhead is connected TIGHTLY! or it will slip off and spray whatever EVERYWHERE..I just had to clean up 15 gallons of water on my floor..thank god its in the basement

Man that sucks! I'll have to keep an eye out for that, I've never had a problem with the power head slipping on mine but doesn't mean it couldn't happen

That seriouly sucks. I run mine in the sump so the hose would have a really hard time coming off. The pump sits on the bottom, and the Remora hangs on the end of the sump, so the hose is sort of trapped between the bottom of the sump and the weight of the skimmer. Worked so far.
