aquaclear 70 or 110 too much flow on a 20 long?

The AC 70 should be ok - I doubt it would kick up any sand, unless it's a very light sand that was quite deep in your tank.
I think the 110 would be overdoing it for your size of tank.

An Aquaclear 70 has quite a strong flow but you can turn it down. I have 2x70's on my 60g tall and I turn them to half flow at night when we're watching T.V.

It might on full flow. I had a 50 on a 20long and it kicked up some sand around and made a pit where the flow was. Even found some sand in the filter; not a lot to worry me though. I had river sand (a little heavier than playsand) in mine.

Either will be ok, You can never have to much filtration and if the flow seems to be to much just turn it down to the lower setting. I run 2 Ac 70s on my 33 gallon, 2 AC 70s on my 26 gallon bowfont, 2 fluval 305s and 2 AC 70s on my 80 gallon bowfront. plus 2 ac 50s on each of my 10 and 20 gallon quarintine tanks.

Either should be ok if turned down, I've run AC50 on full power in a 10g didn't kick up any sand into the water but the output current did slowly make a hole in the sand at the front of the tank in front of the filters path.
