Hi,
I have a 125 gal freshwater aquaruim in need of a make over.
I've been trying to find some unique backgrounds and decorations online, but all I'm finding are the same things that were out there a year ago. Can anyone out there suggest a store to try? My fish (Red Devil, Silver Dollar, Jack Dempsy..) will be large, so I'm looking for some large things they can swim through or in. Anyone tried those laser lights? How well do they work?

I have read that the lazer lights can get messed up and fry your fish.

as to a back ground. personally i prefer just painting the back of the tank black, it really brings out the color of your fish. particularly colorful ones like the jack dempsey and red devil. I know its not exactly unique but i like the effect it gives.

for other decorations..its not unique still but I really like the fake drift wood that petsmart has it looks really amazing. (just make sure you dont get the lizard stuff cause that floats!
:o )

I just thought I would mention (I dont know if you know this but I thought I would say just in case you didnt) There is a very good chance that when your RD grows up you will have only the RD in there, they didnt get that name for nothing! :)

Thanks for the info. I knew they were aggressive, but I will keep my eye on them. So far they all pick at each other, but have managed to live together for the past year. Of, course the first month I lost an albino oscar, and a jack dempsey.

You can pick up some really coll stuff on eBay. Last week I picked up this really great piece of desert driftwood. Shipping was pretty expensive, and ya gotta make sure it's properly treated.

that discount site is pretty cheap for decorations

For my background I used wrapping paper. I like it because it's very inexpensive, I can change it whenever I want to, and there's tons to choose from. Right now I have "Finding Nemo" wrapping paper on the back of my tank. I wanted a fun looking tank with lots of color. I'm sure I'll change it to something else in a few weeks.
