I have been in the Fish keeping hobby quite some time and Being a member here at AC, I was wondering if there is a post for heater size recommendations anywhere on the site ? I have done search after search and very little results other than inquires about heater suggestions:1zhelp:.

Ideally you should figure on 3 watts per gallon if the room temperature is stable and 5 watts per gallon if room temperature fluctuates.

Using 2 smaller heater with the combined total is also a good idea instead of a single.

I have used the double heater method as well as the single. Using the double method has many advantages such as spreading the heat location and if one sticks on, you are likely to notice before any damage occurs.

Heater size Info!

Thanks for information,I was curious if there was a graph or chart here on AC somewhere. Also thanks for the 3 watts per gallon ratio, it is a very easy calculation. I think it should be posted on a sticky somewhere! Just a suggestion!:goldfish:
