How long does everyone leave their light in their aquariums on? How long should they be left on and how long is to long?

I have mine on a timer that turns them on at 11:00 a.m and off at 9:00 p.m. I may reduce it by an hour to cut back on algae growth if my snails can't catch up. Maybe I just get more snails.

On our reef tank, the actinic bulbs run 13 hours and the daylight bulbs 9 hours.

my actinic lights come on at 10am, halides on at 1:00pm, halides off at 9:00pm, actinics off at 10pm and moonlight on at 9:45pm till 5am...Sump light on at 10pm and goes off at 7 am...All controlled by timers..

Thats a pretty crazy on the timers, what timer outlets do you use?

Oh, sorry, yes, i use timers like that....4 in total...one each for sump, moon, halides and actinics...works a dream...
