Aquarium Products System 1 Diatom Filter

Has anyone ever used the Aquarium Products System 1 Diatom Filter?

I'm familiar with the Vortex line of diatom filters and have owned a D-1. How does this system 1 filter compare to the vortex filter?
 
I own 2 system1 filters and love them. so simple and easy to use and no hoses to mess with like the vortex. i run them about every 2 weeks on my tanks for 2 hrs and they polish the water so clear excellent filters. if you buy one you wont regret it. best part they are self priming with the diatom powder not like the hassle of the vortex. i owned a vortex XL and soon as i got my system1's i sold the vortex on ebay. i been using them for about 2 yrs now never a problem.
 
Thats good. For some reasons its really hard to find diatom filters. Vortex have always been the most common but there is some manufacturer issue that made them stop making them so alot of retailers are sold out?

I found a site called Aquarium Guys thats has the Vortex D-1 Diatom filter on sale for $86.39 and is actually in stock.

I know some people use the Magnum 350 for this type of polishing but I had one and didn't think it worked nearly as well as a Vortex.
 
i paid 129.99 for both of my system1's and would never go back to the vortex and no i never found a magnum 350 to be a effective diatom filter i tried them they are better used to just filter aquarium water. the reason i think its hard to find diatom filters is the cost and they arent used that often so people dont want to invest in one. so not many places carry them i know none of my local fish stores do.
