Years ago I had a couple frogs in my 30g that I remember having for a couple years. I've bought 3 over the past couple months and lost all 3 within a couple weeks of purchase. I feed the tank a mixture of flake and worms as well as some tubeflex worm cubes & krill. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Are the frogs going into that 55? I would think they would get harrassed by a number of your tankmates there. If that is not the case, it may be from compitition during feeding time(frogs can't get to the food before everyone else.)

yep, what size tank are they going into?
Also the worms? or they frozen or live? I have never seen any problems with frogs or newts with frozen blood worms or Brine shrimp. I personally feel they, African Clawed Frogs, do best in a species only tank with small fish, guppies. But if you have the ADFs, read this artical on them. This should help.

I would not keep ADFs in that 55g. Not only are some of the fish aggressive, but ther is too much competition for food (especially if you haven't been target feeding them). Plus, that tank is a little overstocked (IMO) anyway. Between the pleco - which gets too big for a 55g - and the raphaels, the frogs wouldn't have much of a chance at a peacefule existence.

Sorry:(

However, if the tank has a completely 100% secure lid with no gaps, you could keep an ADF in that 2.5g betta tank:)

Frozen worms, forgot to include pellets in that menu too. The frogs were added to my 55g but I didn't notice any competition during feeding time as they're adequately fed and no evidence that I saw of any harrassment.

your rapaels will eat them when they get big enough, My frogs are in a 90 gallon & I have to overfeed so they can eat worms or cooked shrimp.Any dreid food seems to be too small for them to notice & smell. pieces of work & shrimp ussualy stay around long enough 4 them to find.I feed my fish flake 1st then cubefex & when the fish snipe all that I feed the frogs fresh food.Their bellies get realy fat when they eat.

The other problem you may have is that the 55's tend to be a little deep for them and they may drown. The frogs need to come up for air and ADF's always seem to wait till the last second.

I had a couple of aquatic frogs once. after about a year i found one of them down the hall dead on the tile floor in the bathroom. About 6 months later the other one went missing. A year later i found him dried and toothpick like in the corner of my closet. lol
