are there any website/computer experts here? I have a question!

I've been trying to find out the answer to this question. Maybe someone on here can help me.
I have minimal knowledge of website creation. Many years ago, I created a website for the company I work for on FrontPage. Then a few years ago, I redid the website on Publisher and published it to the web thru that program. All went well using this way until recently. Now there are certain things on the website that some people can see, and others can't. I've already ruled out some things, such as "does it work with internet explorer but not with firefox". It doesn't seem to matter.

If you scroll to the bottom of the home page, you may (or may not) see a place where you can sign up to recieve a newsletter. Some can see this clearly, others, like myself on my computer, just see two white boxes and the submit and reset buttons.
Two more examples are the "articles of interest" and "info links" buttons on the left side menu. There should be a whole list of stuff on those pages, but some people only see a blank page.
I've tried re-publishing the website several times and that doesn't fix it. Does anyone know what is wrong and how to fix it? Why can some people see the website fine and others see "broken" things and pages? I don't know enough about websites and computers to even BEGIN to guess at how to fix this! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

As far as I see it is browser specific, I've tried this on 2 different pc's and on both IE doesn't display some code from your xml source properly, plus the compatibility warning is up. On FF everything is there besides the midi file, that's not playing.

Since moving from frontpage to dreamweaver years ago (I think last time I've used frontpage was in 98-99) everything has worked as it should irregardless of the browser (as far as I recall the dreamweaver has compatibility settings for all popular browsers, which you can test while coding it).

EDIT: as a reference, I've used IE 8 and FF 3.5.4 to test on XP, windows 7 and FF on linux just to see any difference (same as on windows boxes).

It could be the particular version of FireFox and IE being used. It works for me on IE 7 and FF 3.0.15, but maybe other versions are having issues.

I notice that the newsletter sign up consists of 2 input boxes floating over an image file that contains the labels -- which seems a little wonky.

I would suggest you take a screen shot of a client having the issue and post that here along with the specific browser version and operating system used.

I didn't evaluate the coding (took one look and dizzied myself), but I'd have to assume it could be something to do with browser versions as well. Another thought would be to refresh the page a few times, if it shows up correctly at all, it could be that the server is having a problem loading the images.

On a bit of an off note, thumbs up to you for helping a good cause.

IBR3AK, JOEL, & VAMPIE, thanks so much for your answers; I'm sure they were great! Only problem is I didn't understand a word any of you said! I understood the part about refreshing the page. Tried it, didn't work. You are going to have to talk and explain this stuff to me like I"m a 5 year old, because I don't understand computer talk at all! Reading that was like trying to understand Japanese! lol. Sorry to be a pain!
Maybe if you could just give me a step by step instructions of things to try to fix it?

oh also one of my friends looked at it on her computer on firefox and she said it looked fine, all info was there. ?? Then she looked at it on Internet explorer and it was all there again. that's why I didn't suspect it had anything to do with the browsers??

I am seeing alot of overlapping text and its just confusing ...

Not sure about the bottom, If I click on the newsletter link andother page opens up with more overlapped text.

Looking at the code....no offence meant, but, its a browser compatability train wreck....This has occured because of the use of Publisher and any legacy code from Frontpage to do the pages....

Idealy, get yourself a copy of dreamweaver or Microsoft Expressions and you can then run the code through the checker and fix the issues on each page..

To show this, i have just ran a page from your site ( http://www.hlhas.com/index_files/Page1019.html ) through the checker in Dreamweaver....here is the summary of coding errors....this is your problem..

wow... ok. Thanks for figuring it out for me. unfortunatly, I don't know anything about codes. I only know the artistic creation of the website. When I went to publish it online, I spent an hour on the phone with a guy who literally walked me thru detail by detail, click by click on what to do, and by some miracle I managed to get it online.
When you say, "re-write the website", what do you mean? Completly delete it from Publisher and start again on Publisher? Or use a different program entirely?

I would use a different programe entirely, to be honest...Programs like publisher are not browser compliant....

If you'd like, i'd be happy to help with re-writing / creating a new site, and i'll publish it for you in Dreamweaver...If you'd like to do that, then shout me via PM...
