Ok, after weeks of constant battling between water cloudiness, crazy parameters i think i am beginning to level out, (I Hope). A few days ago i added some bio-spira, b/c i was getting ammonia levels of 8.0!!! Now, before I added this i was putting in ammo-lock. Ok now, this morning i woke up and my water was beautiful, it is soo much clearer than it used to be but i did a water check and here is the parameters, ph=6.5, Nitrite = i couldnt tell but i think it was 1, the color was between (.50-1.0), Nitrate = 5.0, ammonia was still reading 8.0!!! But have done 3 50% water changes in the past two days, so i think i am getting false readings because there is absolutely no way that those water changes could not have done anything, and if it was 8.0 i think my fish would be dead. So if my parameters do not look right please let me know, i belive my ph should be about 7.0, and nitrite should be 0, and nitrate should be 40. Thanks

ammo-lock is giving you false positives. you should invest $7 in an "ammonia alert) by Seachem. Its a device that sticks to the inside wall of your tank and monitors the Free ammonia levels (free = bad). Ammo-lock will generally change the free ammonia levels to a less toxic ionized ammonia. Your ammonia test is reading the total ammonia (free + ionized). That is why it looks so high. An ammonia alert measures only the free ammonia.
