I've had this 9inch silver for about 4 days now and she wont except any pellets for arow sticks i give her. So I gave up and brought back some guppies, she hesitated at first while my pacu is chasing them around. She finally goes on a rampage and gulps down about 8 of them. Whats a good way to get her to eat pellet food?

well that fish isn't exactly a baby. If it has been fed live food it's whole life, it will be hard, if not impossible, to teach it to eat manufactured products. But it could also be that it is still getting used to the tank, and the only reason it ate was instincts.

It took a little while for my Florida gar to eat pellets, meat, salmon eggs, ect.

Don't feed it for awhile.

Not saying it will work for everyone, but here's what I did with the 4 aro's I own to change them over to food sticks (it took a little under a month).

I started replacing feeder fish with live crickets. After the aro's started eating the crickets well I started adding in a few Hikari Food Sticks that had been soaked in water for a few minutes along with the crickets. I slowly cut back on the crickets and added more food sticks until they were all eating just food sticks. They seem to really like the food sticks and it's become thier staple with a few crickets and meal worms added in for treats. Make sure you soak the food sticks in water for a bit before you feed them. Like any other dry food it will expand.

its going to be hard to get it to pellets right away. start by giving healthier live foods first, crickets, mealworms and nightcrawlers, then move to stuff like shrimp, pieces of meat, clams stuff like that, i used to stuff the shrimp pieces with pellets then he will learn to take pellets. i kinda did what stephen suggested too.
