Hi. to all. I am conteplating on purchasing an arowana for my 120 gl tank, I would like some opinions from anyone that has experioce owning one. Thanks

Well the tank is a sound size for an arowana, the only thing you have to consider is the investment. Are you willing to pay, and keep a fish which is very sensitive to conditions, skittish, and a carnivore?

If so then i say you're ready to keep one of the most beautiful freshwater fish I know...good choice!

arowanas are hardy and not sensitive once acclimated. the only troublesome one would be feeding young africans. whats in your tank now? that size should be good enough for a juvenile silver for a year or so a little longer for the other species. but you will eventually have to upgrade, then you can really see the fish' gracefulness.

At the present time i have 2 oscers, 1 shuvel nose cat fish, 1 jack dempsy, and 2 12" koi. I have found a web site where they have pictures of asian arowans, what a buetiful fish they are with difrent colors, but the prices for them range $1,000.00 to 10,000.00 dollars.

wow thats a lot of fish.

asian arowanas are nice and they will go for way more than 10K, illegal in the US though, but they are out there. australian are the closest you would get at a petstore. almost same shape and their gold colors are pretty nice.
