Arrowana question

hey guys, Tankmates with an Arowana are pretty much a hit or miss. Ive tried ALOT of different tank mates over the years. for a little 4" some of the mild cichlids will work but it will only be temporary. mild like, festivum, firemouths, some jupari, severums, anything that cant fit the aro into its mouth. however, within a year the aro WILL outgrow a 55gall. a tank at least 6' long and at least 2' wide is a MUST for these guys. But, for your 4" guy, keep it in the 55 and let alot of stuff like plastic/silk plants float around and that will give it some refuge and make it feel alot more comfortable. Baby Arowana are VERY skittish and will jump out of the tank if spooked. They pretty much stay skittish till they reach about a foot, which comes really quick. For the first 3 years all that fish will do is eat and grow! after that its growing will slow down but only a very little bit. mine noticably grew for 5 years and in the last two it has only grown 3-4" tops, it was just getting fatter. i grew it out in a 39gall, than 6 months later into a 55. six months after that a 180 where it stayed until two years ago when it went into a 450. I actually just sold that fish because im moving soon. but it was 7 years old and was 42" and EXTREMELY active. its only tankmates at that size were 2 motoro stingrays. Ive tried Oscars and Severums, and tinfoils, all failed the tinfoils worked the best but he managed to get one into his mouth and kill it. it was to large for him to eat but he wouldnt let it go for a few hours and it eventually died, so i removed the other tinfoils.

Sabrina thanks for forwarding my message to that guy ;)
