Last night I noticed that one of my two assassin snails was comletely out of the water. It was at least and inch or two above the water line. Does anyone have any idea why they may do this. They are also feeding well.

Assassin Snail trying to escape??

They're probably a couple.
"Honey, I know the place where I found some yummy ramshorns was around here somewhere."
"Why don't you stop and ask a Tetra for directions? This doesn't look right- there isn't even any water up here."
"I don't need directions- honestly it's here somewhere."
Seriously though, check your water parameters- snails leaving the water when they're not normally doing that can be a sign you need a water change... there again some snails regulary leave the water- I've not kept assassins so I don't know if they will.
Most snails can live out of water for a time- they won't die unless they escape the tank completely and can't find their way back...

Seal all gaps with scotch tape. I did it with mine after discovering my lone assassin out of 9 trying to slip out of the gap. They haven't done it since then though.
Thanks you guys!! I was hoping it wasn't anything too major. These 2 are my first assassins and I am rather excited about having them. I would hate for either of them to die.

weird...mine come up after I do a water change and go back down.
but regarding the OP, I've never seen my assassins complete leave the water. I've seen them hang out at the waterline or float upside down at the surface but never crawl out of the water.
