Has anyone seen a product to automatically feed bettas? I am looking for an autofeeder that will drop a very small amount of food (4-5 pellets?) for a couple weeks while I go on vacation.

There are several styles out there....some more reliable than others. If it is a 2 wk vacation and the only fish, I wouldn't even bother feeding. Anything else in the tank?

+1

90% of fish (betta's included) will be fine for a 2 week period without feeding... isnt even harmful to them.

That isnt to say that you should go 2 weeks between every feeding.. but once in a while is fine.

If you insist on feeding.. there are methods available but I have seen them malfunction doing a lot more damage than a bit of underfeeding would

i would find a friend or family member that you can trust to come feed your fish every 2nd or 3rd day during your vacation. auto fish feeders have been known to fail and dump all the food in the tank, fouling the water and killing the livestock.

separate each feeding out in baggies for your friend/relative and give them strict instructions to only feed what you have set out.

Is the tank small enough to take it to a friend while you're gone? I took an 8 day vacation recently and took our betta in a small tank to a friend's house and left the other 3 tanks at home with no food and everyone was fine.

And here I thought I was starving my poor betta since she goes crazy when ever I look at her... Drama queen.
I also have a couple assassin snails that I drop bottom feeder pellets for. Maybe I could just stock up on other snails for while I'm gone?

I might try asking around to see if anyone is going to be here. I figure for winter break at college means everyone goes home. Maybe someone will be gone for only a week, which sounds more than do-able.
