I have a bunch of axolotl that need to find new homes. I inadvertently bought them as eggs (its a long story) and now they are about 5" long and I simply don't have room for them all. They are an aquatic salamander, they get decent size, and they're devastatingly cute. :help:

You must have a tank at least 36" long, and they can NOT be in a tank with gravel. It must be sand or bare bottom. They will eat the gravel and it can get lodged in their intestines and kill them. They also can not tolerate warm temperatures, so you must have a temperature controlled environment for them, basements are fine, air conditioned houses that don't' get hotter than the low 70 are fine, but if you let the house get hot during the summer these guys will get sick. Please help me find them new homes. If you know of a school or other non-profit that will take them, feel free to contact me. I will work with the teachers or other admin to make it happen.

The axies have been moved to a sand only bottomed tanks as even the pea gravel in the picture above can be swallowed with devastating effects. Large rocks (like fist size) are fine.

How could you say no to that face?

omg i want them NOW!!!!!!!!!!! i need to move too new york, i would love a free axolotl. if you would ever ship i would definatly pay!!!

I'm sorry, I just don't think I could do that to the little guys. I don't have the heart to let someone toss around the box at the P.O. I wish you were in NY too.

Have you tried posting at MFK? I know a lot of those guys are into Axototls...

I was looking at getting one or two of them. Unfortunately I'm not near NYC. They are the coolest, happiest looking creatures I've seen. Seriously they look like they're smiling all the time and could brighten one's mood.

Thanks everyone, They always make me smile too- like they're wearing silly clown wigs with those feathery gills sticking out.

I did have a friend in my planted tank club who's really a purist, told me they look like a pile of raw hot dogs. That wasn't very nice, but it was funny.

Its their little fingers that kill me. Love those little toes!

247plants, Whats MFK?
