Baby Moss Balls..any info?

Hi, I was looking around on ebay and found these little things called moss balls, they sound great but I am unsure. Does anyone know any information about the little guys, or where to find info. I was just wondering if they would do good in my 10 gal tank, any advantages/disadvantages. I have 4 Albino Blushing Barbs, 3 Leapard Danios, and a Corry Catfish. If anyone could give me some info that would be great!!! Thanks a bunch :D

Try a Google and AC search for "Marimo balls" and their Latin name, Cladophora aegagropila. Check the pictures to make sure that Marimo balls are really what you're buying, and not just Java moss all balled up.

Marimo balls grow extremely slowly and aren't terribly demanding in terms of nutrients or light, although if you give them more light, they'll use it. They can be a charming little addition to your tank (or something more if you want to buy a slew of them), but you should fluff them every once in a while because they do gather particle waste. I just bought five Marimo balls from Aquabotanic for my new 50 gallon tank. It seems a little weird to pay $ for algae, but they look really interesting in the tank. I literally only got them yesterday, currcat, so I can't tell you much about what keeping them is like, but I like them so far.
 
Hi This Is Matt I Just Bought A Moss Ball To And Found Out That U Need To Turn Them Over Once A Week So The Side Facing Down Can Get Light Also. Another Thing U Can Do Is Lightly Squeeze The Moss Ball So U Can Get Debris Out Of The Ball. I Herd Also That They Get Really Big But It Takes Many Years.

I have a few of them. They do grow real slow and tend to need rinsed out every month or so. They don't pearl like my other plants but when they do, they float to the surface.
