I have a baby snail that has a hole, it's not in his spiral but u can see his little insides, how can I fix it. the snail is pea sz and the hole is BB sz, so it's pretty big, how can I fix this. I feed with snail jello and lots of calcium, also ph is 8.0.

I would put him in one of those breeder traps to keep him from stressing the shell too much until we figure out what he needs. I had this issue and msjinkzd suggested that to me.

This way you can put food in there with him and he won't have to be crawling all over the tank foraging for food. Also, none of the other tank occupants can pick at the area, in case the snails inner tissues are exposed.

I bought the plastic floating trap that was cheap at Petsmart and put mine in there. I put snail jello and stuff in with her.

If Lupin or Jinkzie are not online tonight then tomorrow probably one of them will be and can offer help. I know there are some ways to patch that if needed. Often the snail will heal by calcification from the inside out. The hole won't disappear but the snails body is protected by the calcification.

I've read instructions on patching the shell with plastic, or even eggshell, but I will have to look for the link.

If you don't have a trap for tonight I'm sure it will be ok until you can get one tomorrow.

If you can post pics I know that will be helpful. Jinks asked me to do that, and I was able to do that and she was better able to analyse the situation for me.

Try not to worry too much tonight. I'm sure someone can help.
