How do you guys have the back of your tanks? I know in marine and reef keeping, a lot of people choose to paint the backs of their tanks a light blue or black color.

I haven't really seen many pictures of freshwater tanks that have painted back walls, but I have seen some with those printed aquascape designs that you would get at a place like PetCo, PetSmart or Wal-Mart.

I have Eco-Complete as my substrate, which is black in color, along with several pieces of driftwood and will be adding some plants tomorrow, so I was just wondering what a good idea is.

I might just get a couple sheets of posterboard in black and light blue to place behind the tank just to see how I like it.

Also maybe I'll leave it plain, but I'd like to be able to hide the wires and stuff behind the tank, so that's probably not the idea I'll go with.

If you have pictures you can post of a freshwater planted tank with a painted background, I'd be interested in seeing them.

Thanks!

None of my tanks have backgrounds, but if you were sufficiently industrious you could create a 3-D background from foam, silicone, and sand. I hope to put one of those together in the near future.

I love my rock background. you do not belive how many times I have been asked how I did that wall  I have never found this back ground again. I am glad I bought it when I did :)

I prefer a black background, but the printed can look nice if tastefully done - like grannylvsfish tank.

show me some good painted back grounds
