Bacteria Prob, please help.

Okay will I set up my new tank cycled everything fine, poped in a couple of fish that had been in my 50 gall, over the next few days the water went a bit cloudy with new tank syndrome. It has now passed, but last night I noticed what looked to be a bacteria infection on the side of my Sev, its about 5mil in diameter and has a slight white look to it, I don't think its fungus as its not cotton wool like. its more like a bit of damage to the scales there and white ish looking. He is behaving fine, not being bullied, in fact he does the bullying! hes eating and I tested the water last night and everything is exactly as it should be.
The question is how do I treat a bacteria infection? I cant find any info at home on what to actually do?

I'd move the fish to another tank, treat with maracyn, and then return to the system when he's cured. Bullies get wounds too--just not as often.

What is Maracyn? can I get this from my LFS or do I need to go to a vet?
also are bacteria infections like this infectious to other fish or is it just an infection of a wound?

Maracyn is an antibiotic--treating the main tank with it would kill off the beneficial bacteria in the tank. It's available at most LFS.

Infections like this are contagious, but usually won't spread unless the other fish are injured or stressed--the fish can typically resist the infection unless they are compromised in some way.
