I have a conditioner that smells sorta like rotten fish or something. It smells pretty bad, but you can only tell if you get a bit on your finger and smell it. Should I not use it anymore? I have other conditioners, so I haven't since I noticed.

does it happen to be Amquel +? that stuff is nasttyyyyy and smells like sulfur, i quite using that, Prime all the way! BTW thats normal for that dechlorinator

They all stink like sulfur.

The dechlorinator smells like sulfur because the active ingredient is Sodium Thiosulfate. Na2S2O3 is the chemical formula. The rotten egg smell is Hydrogen sulfide gas (H2S). Very small amounts of Hydrogen sulfide are outgassed when it is stored. With hydrogen sulfide a tiny little bit produces a lot of smell.

All dechlorinators contain the same active ingredient. I've found that the more concentrated ones stink a lot more.

Thanks guys. that's reassuring, I was afraid it had gotten old and wasn't working.

I have used Amquel +, Prime, and Stress Coat, and I find the only one that doesn't smell bad is the Stress Coat. I started using SC, then I switched to Amquel, and the smell was so bad on water change day I bought an air freshener for the downstairs fish room !! I am now using Prime, based on the various posts on the forum as being a great product. Good luck.
