Hello,
I have a nice little 5 gallon in my dorm room with some driftwood, live plants, two Badis badis sp. "scarlet" (I think one male and one female, thought the "male" relentlessly chases the "female" on sight...), and two ghost shrimp.
Is there anythign else I can keep in here safely and smartly? Maybe something to detract aggression... I was thinking a few zebra danios, but I'm afraid they'd annoy the Badis fish.
Any help? I'm looking for soem suggestions...
Thanks in advance,
~MJay

All the Badis fanatics would tell you to keep them on their own. The male may be aggressive but they're shy about feeding. Do they have several hideouts?

I have their relatives, Badis ruber from Burma.

Your Scarlet 'Badis' are technically Dario dario if you're looking for recent information.

my reply

Wetman,
Thanks for the post. I have a few little caves but I have never seen one of the fish enter or exit them. As for feeding, the male comes right up to the top of the water. I somewhat assumed that other fish might make him more skittish, hence the post.
I think I might try to add some floating bunch plants, thought there isn't much room. The driftwood and java moss takes up a good deal of space.
Thanks again,
~MJay

you didnt get those from forest lake pets did you?
have you been to FLP?If not its the best in a 400 mile radius
I might try a rams horn snail or a single otto.
BTW welcome to AC fellow minnisotan:D
If you need some plants I got some mini anubis nana shoots-and a crypt wendi that also would look good.

thanks

Hello,
I've been a member here since '99, but I had to re-register and fell out of the hobby for awhile. I can thanks an impulsive floor mate for buying a 29 gallon one day and prompting my 5 gallon system.
I've been to Forest Lake, but that was before they went under new ownership. I am a big fan or Terraquatics or however it is spelled-- I forget where it is but it is in an old church building. Amazing selection and a whole bunch of randomness... sweet.
Oh yeah, the question! I bought them at... PetSmart in St. Cloud, MN. Kind of a weird find-- I was buying food and picked them up, as well. Good thing the tank was ready for the new guys.
