Well I left on Friday afternoon, had a patch of duckweed about the size of my hand floating on the surface of the 125..

Today, 1/2 the tank is covered with it..

and my 20 gal RCS tank is nearly completely covered with it..

boy it does grow fast ill take some for the price of shipping

man, you mean you don't love duckweed up to your armpits after maintenance? You know its edible right, its supposed to have a slight peppery taste

The easy way to clean it up is to use a canister filter and a skimmer. I had this issue. I didn't even know what the plant was. I used a Fluval skimmer on one of my canister filters, broke off a couple of the slots so the duckweed could pass through, and in a couple of days it was gone. Granted, I took out the majority of it with my hands and threw it in the trash. The skimmer was used to get the remainder. Cleaned out the canister filter a couple of days later and that was the end of that.

I agree. That stuff grows really, really quick.

I have a guppy tank that is slowly being overcome by the evil duckus weedius :evil_lol:

Quite ironic. I had it in a 55 with about 25 brigs in the tank, and if they were eating it, they sure were not keeping it at bay. I have no idea where it came from, and would guess from a plant I got from somebody. It appeared during tax season when I pay less attention to my tanks, and when I looked at the tank after not dealing with it for a week, the stuff was really thick on the surface.
