Can you post a pic of your whole 55g tank if U C this post yours may look so red as hes on such a bright green leef, mine stay on wood or on a rock ledge.Nice foliage btw!

ill try to get a good pic of my whole 55...dont have one right now. He definatley changes color though depending on where he is......a few weeks ago when I was doing a water change I actually found him inside my filter! I had a string hanging out of the outflow from one of the media bags and he must of climbed up through that....he was fine but it was quite a surprise.

lol thats funny mine I noticed searching around @ night loking for the best flow.they are as fast as chameleon shrimps but without the carnivorous appetite & they respect fish & their space, one of my all time favorites.
the large ones just don't stay @ the top of the tank eitehr they realy get around

Yeah....I would say they are much more active at night. I notice mine hides out a lot during the day in the middle of one of my bushy plants. Right now he is actually clinging to the glass in the back just under the filter. Highly reccomend this shrimp for any community tank. I actually have mine in their with some semi-aggressive fish....Dwarf Puffers,Transcriptus Cichlid and German Rams as well as other schooling fish......no problems at all.

I've also seen greenish specimens with bright ochre-yellow spots and dorsal striations.

For more species, look to the Atya, Atyopsis, and Atyoida of http://www.wirbellose.de/arten.html and http://www.crusta10.de/index.php?sideid=galerie&showid=A, as well as http://www.petshrimp.com/discussions/viewtopic.php?t=781.

An A. lanipes I recently collected in Puerto Rico; this specimen possesses beautiful streaks of yellow about the "radar" appendages (click image to enlarge):

I plan to travel to Curaçao this winter and there obtain some "mini-fan shrimp", Micratya poeyi.

I have 8 small ones & 3 huge ones in with dwarf aquatic frogs guppyfry loaches & a couple sharks ,their eyesight is realy good & the little once are very curious ,I put a few brown oak leaves into the tank & right away 1 or 2 jumped onto the floating leaves. the large ones are now congregating my sponge filter i'm reluctantly useing.(unsightly) but it works good for particulate in the water column

I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see my largest fanshrimp was rakeing the algae off of rocks & ledges with his fans, rakeing & ripping it off like amanoshrimps. I guess he got tired of waiting for it to come to him. I haven't seen any other bamboofan's doing this yet. Just the large one & he was very good @ mowing it down leaveing the areas short & stubly
